History

Flint River Baptist Association was formed October 16 to 18, 1824, at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Monroe County when six churches from the Ebenezer and Ocmulgee Baptist Association sent delegates to Rocky Creek Church for the purpose of forming a new Baptist Association.

The Flint River Baptist Association originally included churches in what is now Bibb and Monroe Counties. Later, the association grew to include churches in Butts, Henry, Clayton, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Fayette Counties.

On those October days in 1824, the delegates to the new Flint River Baptist Association met because of the dream to organize for mutual care of churches, missions, education, and church planting. Throughout the years, the churches of the FRBA moved from the dream of birthing an association to a time of growth, thus the expansion of the association into new areas where churches were organized.  As a result of this growth, new Baptist associations were formed: Kimbell, Macon (Now Mid-state), Henry, Clayton (South Metro), Fairburn, and Southside Network.

The Flint River Baptist Association is now a network of 43 churches and 2 missions partnering to fulfill the Great Commission through:
